Income and Education Opportunities

Glass Monkey Art Studio is a great place to learn and work.

Our studio is a very laid-back and creativity free-flowing environment. It is located on a 7 acre organic farm on the edge of Austin Texas. We strive to keep a drama free environment while celebrating cultural diversity, individualism, and artistic freedom.

Glass Monkey Art Studio is two things in one; an art production studio where artists make products to pursue artistic endeavors and earn money; and a borosilicate flameworking school. People new to flameworking will be making use of both aspects, while people with enough experience will not be enrolled in the school.

There is a lot of information about 'Income and Education Opportunities'. We have tried to be thorough. We have created this list of linked topic-headings to help you navigate through it. Just click on the links to find the information you are looking for or read the information from top to bottom.

How the Income Opportunities Work

As a flameworker at Glass Monkey Art Studio, you are brought in as self-employed artists who rents space and tools from us. You will set your own schedule and be your own boss. This is part time or full time. You decide. The more you work, the more you make. The more you make, the more skilled you become. The more skilled you become the more money you can make.

You will purchase the materials you will need from Glass Monkey Art Studio and we will teach you the products needed to supply the demand of our clients. The artists agree to let us sell at least 90% of the products they make. Glass Monkey Art Studio sells the products to our clients. The artist who made the products pays Glass Monkey a sales commission (25%-35%) for selling the product. The rest of the money (65%-75%) from the product sales belongs to the artists who made the products. With your earnings, you will pay for more torch time, more materials, and the remaining balance is income for your hard work and efforts. If you are a non-experience flameworker, you will often have additional expenses for workshops and tutoring.

Whether you are an experienced flameworker or just a beginner, we can teach you the skills you will need to become a well paid craftsman of flameworking. All the while, you will be discovering the artist within. People new to flameworking and the experienced flameworkers alike, have the opportunity to earn money making products in our studio. How much you can make, depends on your skill level and the amount of time you spend behind the torch.

Experienced flameworkers need to know:
If you have sufficient skills, you will not need to be enrolled in Glass Monkey School of Borosilicate Flameworking. Experienced flameworkers, can learn to earn $30+ per hour after expenses.

Non-Experienced flameworkers need to know:
If you do not have sufficient skills to be considered an experienced flameworker, you will need to be enrolled in Glass Monkey School of Borosilicate Flameworking as an apprentice. Although you will learn to earn $30+ per hour after expenses, this does not come overnight and without an opportunity such as our school provides, learning to be a well paid flameworker would take years to accomplish. Our school is designed to teach you to make an income as soon as possible. As soon as you start making products, you will be earning money. In the beginning the money you earn will help offset your expenses. As your skills grow, the money you earn from your products will cover all your expenses. As you progress even further, you will learn to make a very good income above your expenses. It all depends on how fast you pick up your skills and how quick you get a lot of hours of practice under your belt. With the help of our apprenticeship program and following our prescribed recipe of success, some students make money beyond their expenses their first week, most within a month, and some within a couple of months.

On the other hand, some of you may not be as concerned about making an income quickly, but instead want to focus on being as creative as you want. If tha is you, we can certainly oblige you.
